French cuisine has been described as some of the best in world.
The Charente area is famous for its seafood,
particularly mussels and oysters.

Although there is an abundance of restaurants around the area, Les Charmettes has its own excellent restaurant.
There is the choice of eating inside or taking the evening air on the terrace.
There are various menus to suit all including the very important kids menu.
Following an aperitif of the local Pineau de Charentes, you can try some of the local delicacies, washed down with a lovely glass of wine. Finish off with a relaxing coffee and cognac. No worries about driving back, just a gentle stroll back to the mobile home.

Also available is a fast-food takeaway for those of you who can't survive without their burger and chips.
Hand made pizzas to order are a popular choice, with various toppings to choose from.
Round it off with traditional crepes, ice-cream or even barbe a papa (candy-floss).

The onsite shop is open everyday throughout the season, even on the many French bank holidays. It provides all your basic requirements including English newspapers (if you get up soon enough!).
The prices are reasonable except for the Brit imports of Heinz Baked Beans and Walkers Crisps.

However.... nothing beats an alfresco meal with friends and a sampling of the local wine!

It is amazing how the simplicity of a gas barbecue can enthuse all the men in the family to become Jamie Oliver! We provide them on all our plots. (Gas barbecues that is, not men!)
